ADI Check Test training
I have been helping ADIs brush up for their Check Test skills for years. With my help a client whose first ADI Check Test was initially marked ‘Educational’ passed with an excellent grade. In another example an ADI came to me just before their third, and final, attempt. They achieved a grade 5 after having training with me. Many people find the Check Test a problem because their driving instructor training only prepared them for the Part 3 exam.
The three most common reasons people come to me for ADI Check Test training are:
- they have just received the appointment for their first Check Test;
- an examiner has recommended using an ORDIT trainer to improve their standard;
- the Check Test appointment is looming and they want to improve their grade.
Aside from not knowing the area where you will be assessed, by far the most common mistake is failing to plan an effective, pupil centered session. While it is your ADI Check Test, it is absolutely essential to remember that you are being assessed on how you meet the needs of your student! Route planning is another major headache for many people. I always conduct Check Test training in YOUR test centre area so that we can work out suitable lesson routes.
Most people only need a day’s training, with or without the pupil, before the Check Test appointment. I like to organise this day's ADI Check Test training around two weeks before the Check Test itself so that there is time for further training if it is needed.
Whatever you do, don't panic about the Check Test. It really isn’t as bad as some people would have you think, particularly if you undertake a little ADI Check Test training.
